Walking Downtown Los Angeles

If you want to really get to know L.A. well then go downtown for a day. China town,  Kids will enjoy sight seeing, and it’s easy to drop in and grab lunch at one of the delicious restaurants choices. If your kids do not enjoy walking for long periods of time, be sure to bring a stroller so they can take breaks when needed.

Conejo Valley Botanical Garden

The Conejo Valley Botanic Garden is 33-acres of natural terrain is a perfect spot for kids to enjoy themselves. The Kid’s Adventure Garden is open every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. it’s a “place that will encourage children of all ages to run and play and learn about science as they discover the beauty and wonder of nature.” The garden features a tree house, and even a zoo garden.

Las Angelitas del Pueblo Free Tour

Take a free, 50-minute historic walking tour of El Pueblo de Los Angeles, where Los Angeles was founded. The walking tours take place every Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon taking visitors through the history of Los Angeles walking the famous Olvera Street and much more. Kids can will learn about the Mexican culture and history of Los Angeles,  hearing mariachi music, and seeing lots of colorful arts.

Tour A Free Museum

There are many museums in Los Angeles, and the best part — many of them are actually free or have certain days where you can get in free. According to mommy nearest, The California Science Center, Griffith Observatory, and Travel Town Museum are some kid favorites with daily free admission, while Kidspace, the Natural History Museum, and the Skirball Center offer free admission on certain days of the week. Take the Mt. Hollywood Trail for a walk up to the Hollywood sign with the kids. Be sure to wear shoes suitable for walking, bring water, snacks for the kids, and of coarse remember to bring the camera!

The Annenberg Community Beach House

Beat the heat at The Annenberg Community Beach House. It is a no-membership required public facility located in a prime spot on the Santa Monica coastline that includes a children’s play area and splash pad. They also offer synchronized swimming classes, and beach activities for your family.

Grand Park

Let the kids spend the day riding their bikes and then cool off in the fountain afterward. Pack a picnic and prepare to spend the day at this beautiful park that boasts a restored historic Arthur J.
