Jessica Biel was at the American Express’ Live Life launch event about life, work, and parenting when she confessed to feeling like a failure for needing to get a C-section when welcoming her baby boy, Silas into the world.
“That was a really transformative experience because I had a plan. I thought, this was going to happen and is the way it will be, and everything actually happened the opposite way, and it was a grand lesson for the future, ‘OK, you know things in life you plan, and you have to be flexible.”
The 7th Heaven actress said that as a parent she had to adjust to changing her original plan and be more flexible.
“Especially as a parent and having to go, ‘OK, we are changing the plan, we are not going there, we are having a meltdown,’ or ‘We are having a good day, let’s get in the car or jump on a plane,’ like, you have to be flexible, and I had a really hard mindset of what I wanted to happen,’”she revealed.
Biel confessed that she will no longer feel as though she failed as a woman or a mother and if she got the opportunity for a natural birth it would be great, but if not she wont feel bad for it again.
“I am just in awe of women who have natural births and if I have the opportunity to try again or do it again, it will be amazing. And, if not, I do not have that feeling anymore. I do not have the intense drive that it will make me more of a woman or more of a mother or that I failed because I felt as if I failed him because my body did not work the way it was supposed to work.”
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel welcomed their first son, Silas back in 2015 and the two have said that they would like to have more children together.
