During an interview with V Magazine, Mariah Carey talked about her views on the grammys and how at this point she don’t “give a damn.”
“In the music business, if you care about the Grammys and submitting your stuff before a certain time frame, you want a single out in the summer, and then you want to have your record before the deadline, which has changed. Frankly, I do not give a damn.”
The Heartbreaker singer has won five Grammys throughout her career.Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 1991, followed by Best Contemporary R&B Album, Best R&B Song and, again, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance in 2006.
Mariah has won multiple Grammys and has also been nominated 34 times, but to the superstar that’s just “cute,” and says she got “screwed out of certain years.”
“I mean, I have five Grammys. That is cute. There are people that have been doing this half the time that have twice as many. I won two Grammys the first year I started, but after that, are like, ‘We do not go with the people selling a lot of records and are popular; we are gonna go the opposite way.’ So, I got screwed out of certain years.”
Mariah talks new music and we are happy to see that she is back in the the studio.
“I am kind of restarting, and I am working with Roc Nation now, so that is great. I had an incredible meeting – just musical, a good meeting of the minds– with Jay Brown, Jay-Z, and Tyran Smith. We just kind of threw some ideas around, so we are starting from the musical place rather than, like, what is the hook? It is gotta be done that way.”
Regardless of the Grammy count, nobody compares to Mariah! We are definitely looking forward to new music from her.
