During an interview on the Morado Lens podcast, Rosario Dawson discussed the abuse she encountered growing up, and what she thinks of the Time’s Up movement.
When speaking on all the sexual assault allegations in Hollywood, Dawson said, “I was raped and molested as a child, so for me, the world was like that since I was a child.”
Dawson went on to say, “So when I saw it in the workplace, it wasn’t foreign to me. It was like, well, that even happens within family. It happens with people that are supposed to take care of you when you’re a child.”
Speaking against abuse and assault in any situation she said, “Now we’re in a place where it’s finally like, ‘No, we don’t have to keep passing this on. This is archaic and terrible and destructive. Let’s look at it.”
Dawson helped to start the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund, which exists to provide financial aid and legal support to people affected by sexual assault, abuse, and inequality, in any industry.
