Carlos Davis, 15, was shot on Sunday in a bedroom while hanging out with four of his friends in Atlanta, police Sgt. John Chafee said.
Officers were notified of the shooting around 7 p.m. Davis was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and later passed away at the hospital.
On Monday, less than 24-hours from the shooting, Jefferey Reeves, 17, arrived at Atlanta Police Headquarters with his mother to turn himself in for the death of Carlos Davis.
It is said by the police that the shooting was accidental.
“The investigation revealed that Reeves was playing with a pistol in a room full of people, including the victim, when the gun fired and the victim was shot,” Officer Lisa Bender said. “The victim was transported to Grady Hospital where he later expired.”
Reeves was charged with involuntary manslaughter and taken to the Fulton County Jail.
