On Monday, Del Taco announced that they will soon be carrying meatless meat tacos. The fast-food chain linked up with Beyond Meat, the popular meat substitute to offer a plant-based taco option to their menu, making them the first fast-food big named Mexican food chain to sell meatless tacos.

The new menu meatless meat will be available at all Del Taco locations starting April 25th. The new meatless options will include the vegan Beyond Avocado Taco (seasoned Beyond Meat plant-based crumbles, sliced avocado, lettuce, and diced tomatoes in a crunchy shell) and the vegetarian Beyond Taco, which adds cheddar cheese.
Del Taco’s news follows just weeks after Burger King added the Impossible Whopper to their menu for Vegans to enjoy a fast-food plant-based burger. Burger King is initially making the Impossible Whopper available at 59 restaurants in the St. Louis area. Burger King’s chief marketing officer, Fernando Machado said the company has plans to quickly expand it to all BK’s in the country if everything in St. Louis goes smoothly.
