Speculation of Dwight Howard had been released earlier in the month and several reports linking Howard to the Lakers came out.
He’s now expected to reach a buyout with the Memphis Grizzles, they came to a mutual agreement that both sides would go separate ways.
Howard was with the Lakers previously back in the 2012-13 NBA Season he averaged 17.1 ppg, 12.4 rebounds & 2.4 blocks per game.
During this season Pau Gasol was their best big man. The Houston Rockets picked up Howard on a 4 year $87.5 million maximum contract.
He later decided to terminate his $23.3 million option with Houston to become an unrestricted free agent.
During his 3-year time Howard averaged 16 ppg, 11.7 rebounds & 1.6 blocks, The Houston Rockets wasn’t a good fit for him at the time and he decided to leave money on the table and sign with the Atlanta Hawks.
Howard joining the Lakers is good news for Anthony Davis, He’s expressed his unhappiness with playing center.
Dwight Howard is considered a real center and will most likely soak up most of the minutes with JaVale McGee playing the backup center role.
