Check Flooring

Now that spring has arrived, it’s time to start checking your floors for possible deterioration, mold infestation, heaving, or cracking. Walk around your property and inspect both the interior and exterior flooring. If your interior floor is carpeted, you should thoroughly check it too to see if it needs repair or replacement.
You may also consider starting a renovation project like changing your carpet to hardwood floors. This can help you and your family lessen seasonal allergies caused by dust and pollen trapped in your carpet. Don’t forget the following too:

● Basement

Because of changing seasons, basements are prone to dampness and pest infestation. See if you will need to dehumidify your basement or you need to improve its ventilation.

● Foundations, Driveways, and Paths

Make sure to also check your exterior foundation, driveways, and paths. This is because freezing and thawing can be rough on asphalt, concrete and other hardscaping materials. Check for areas that may need to be repaired or replaced.

This will not only keep these areas functional but it also improves your property’s curb appeal. If you have the budget, try expanding your hardscaping too like adding patios and walkways. This will reclaim the muddy areas and will also improve the overall appearance of your landscape.

Reorganize the Kitchen

Your kitchen area, just like the bathroom, is prone to suffer heat and humidity fluctuations. This means that this area is a perfect breeding ground for mold and mildew growth. So before doing any reorganizing or remodeling job, make sure to wash and clean everything from tiles to cabinets, walls, and backsplashes.
Then start evaluating how you’d like your kitchen to function and what needs to be changed. You can start by rearranging your furniture, decors, and kitchenware. See also if you will need to add more pantry baskets, pull-out drawers, or revamp your kitchen cabinets for better organization.
You may upgrade your kitchen too by adding new tiles, replacing countertops, adding or updating your storage and backsplash. Moreover, make your kitchen look more vibrant and fresh too by changing your paint colors to light or brighter shades.

Weed Removal in the Garden

Spring clean not just your home but also your outdoor space. Make your yard more inviting by doing a meticulous garden cleanup. Start by getting rid of any animal feces, dead grass and leaves, winter mulch, and other debris.
Now, it’s time to remove large and perennial weeds as spring makes them easier to uproot. Pull out all the weeds in your gardens and make sure nothing is left—roots and all—to discourage new growth. As soon as you’re done, do preventive care by applying mulch over exposed soil to about 5cm thick. You may also apply a pre-emergent herbicide.
Never try to compost weed as it could grow back and infest your garden again. Also, dig out any plant material that has signs of disease. Springtime is also the best season to edge and remove stray grass to prevent them from creeping into your garden beds.
Don’t forget to mow early and often too in springtime to ensure a thicker and fuller lawn. Moreover, prune dead and frost damage plants to encourage germination. Plus, don’t forget to trim evergreens, cut back ornamental grasses, and pull dead annuals.

Renovate Your Garden Shed

Winter is over, and it’s a very good time to finish what’s been left or start new renovation jobs. Renovating your garden shed is always a good idea especially during this season. It’ll add more life to your garden and is also one of the reno jobs that usually require less effort.
Start by cleaning your garden shed and inspect for possible damage. Plan your reno project by first checking what needs to be improved, and how you would like your shed to function. Also, consider the overall size of your garden shed to see which design will be feasible.
You can repurpose or completely transform your shed into a new one. You can make it as an outdoor living space, a study or work area, a greenhouse—it’s all up to your creative imagination. There’s an endless option to revamp this outdoor space and make it more functional. With shed renovation, your budget and imagination are the only limits.
