Kanye and Kim Kardashian West gives a sneak peak of their family’s “futuristic” L.A. mansion for Architectural Digest’s March 2020 issue. In the video interview for the publication, the couple talked about their futuristic design, they’re favorite rooms, and more.
The rapper and KUWTK star share how the mansion became their home that required a three year renovation. “It was my dream home. [Kanye] said, ‘I like it,’ and to him, ‘I like it’ was like ‘Oh my god he loves it’ because he doesn’t really like anything,” Kim said in the video. “That’s my speciality, not liking stuff,” Kanye jokingly added.
With help from interior designer Axel Vervoordt, Kim and Kanye converted their $60 million mansion, to which Kanye calls a “futuristic Belgian monastery,” into a calming, minimalist dream space for their family. Although the home is very minimal and very clean for such a big family, Kanye and Kim say the inspiration behind the house design came from their children. During their interview the celebrity couple had a surprise visit from their 6-year-old daughter North. who completely stole the show.

“The kids ride their scooters down the hallways and jump around on top of the low Axel tables, which they use as a kind of stage,” Kanye says. “This house may be a case study, but our vision for it was built around our family.”

“Everything we do is an art installation and a playroom.”
