CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett reports that Trump is expected to back a continuing resolution which would fund the government at current levels, and reopen the government for a few weeks.

The government shutdown, that is now on it’s 35th day, was caused by disagreement over President Trump’s demand for $5.7 billion in funding for a wall on the southern border. Democrats countered back with $1.3 billion for border security. Trump initially said he would not sign anything without wall funding.
The border security debate will continue while this temporary solution is in place, but the temporary end to the shutdown is designed to take the stress off the system and get struggling federal workers paid.
