R. Kelly’s “girlfriends” are defending him against the claims that he has been abusive, and has forced them to stay away from their parents. In an interview with Gayle King that was released March 7, 23-year-old Joycelyn Savage and 21-year-old Azriel Clary say they are in “a very strong relationship” with Kelly.

Clary, who met R. Kelly when she was just 17-years-old, claims that her parents told her to lie about her age and encouraged her to make sexual videos with him.

“OK, so when I first met Robert, my parents told me to lie about my age. So when I met him, he thought that I was 18,” she stated. “On top of that, when I was 17, my parents were actually making me, trying to get me to take photos with him, take sexual videos with him, all kinds of stuff.”

“Wait, wait, wait. Your parents encouraged you to do sexual videos with R. Kelly?” asked King.

The 21-year-old replied saying, “Yes, and they said, because if they ever have to blackmail him, what they’re trying to do now, they can use it against him, which is exactly what they’re doing.”

Savage also agreed with Clary saying, “Both our parents are basically out here trying to get money and scam, because they didn’t agree on what happened, you know, with music or whatever it could be. And they’re just very upset.”

R. Kelly was taken into custody for unpaid child support to his ex-wife after being bailed out last week by a “friend.” According to court documents, The singer owes the mother of his two children child support payments up to $161,000. He will remain in custody until the full amount is paid.

Kelly was recently charged with 10 counts of sexual abuse, including abuse against minors. He will return to court later in the month.
