Six Philadelphia police officers were shot Wednesday afternoon in an active standoff with a gunman. The police responded to a shooting incident at about 4:30 p.m. in the Nicetown–Tioga section of the city, where a suspect appeared to be firing at police officers, Sgt. Eric Gripp of the Philadelphia Police Department said in a tweet.

Local news showed many police officers responding to the scene where the active shooting was taking place.
According to NBC, “several” officers were injured in the exchange. Six officers were shot and taken to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
