A two year old girl was left injured after falling into a Rhino exhibit at the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, Florida. According to Brevard County Fire Rescue, The young child and the mother were both taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital For Children and Orlando Regional Medical Center Tuesday afternoon.
According to ABC,the 2-year-old girl was participating in a hands-on experience with the rhinos and fell between two poles landing her among the animals. Witnesses told officials at least one rhino made contact with the child.
The Brevard Zoo has offered the hands-on experience daily since 2009 without any incidents prior to Tuesday. The Rhino Encounter program has been suspended while the zoo evaluates its safety.
The condition of the 2-year-old is unknown at this time.
