The New York Times has reported that Whole Foods natural grocery store has been purchased by Amazon for $13.4 Billion Dollars.
This was announced on Friday and is a very interesting move for a company like Amazon who hasn’t really put a dent in the grocery store business.
Amazon has hopes to turn into a more bigger player in food and beverages market.

This also appears to be a move to help them compete with their long time rival Walmart. Which has obviously been not happening when it comes to internet shopping. “Make no mistake, Walmart under no circumstances can lose the grocery wars to Amazon,” said Brittain Ladd, a strategy and supply chain consultant who formerly worked with Amazon on its grocery business. “If Walmart loses the grocery battle to Amazon, they have no chance of ever dethroning Amazon as the largest e-commerce player in the world.”
