The yogurt company Chobani has offered to pay off $85,000 in student lunch debt in an Idaho school district. Twin Falls School District announced on Tuesday that the hefty donation will cover all the debt that has been obtained by over 900 students during the last school year. The yogurt company has a plant in Twin Falls. According to District spokeswoman Eva Craner, the school still has around $115,000 in lunch debt from previous years. Craner says the school makes it a priority to feed students even if they don’t have the money in their accounts.
Chobani said in a statement that their company reached out to the district in May around the same time they had paid for a lunch debt in Warwick, Rhode Island.
